We are an official WGI Independent A percussion ensemble recently formed to compete locally,at WGI regionals, and WGI World Championships in the spring of 2010. I live out of town, do I have to rent a hotel for every rehearsal? You are allowed, but no you will be allowed to sleep at the rehearsal facility. Or you may choose to sleep at one of your generous fellow members house that live in the area. Who can be a member of IPT? Is there an age limit? Anyone who wishes to audition and be apart of a competitive indoor percussion unit can participate, but you must be under the age of 23 by March 31st, 2010. Can a high school student join? Yes, we are a equal-opportunity percussion ensemble, but if your school has an indoor percussion ensemble, you will need permission from your parents in order to participate. Your school performance unit takes priority over IPT. When and where are auditions and rehearsals? Auditions are set on November 22nd, 2009 and the place will be soon determined. What is the rehearsal schedule like? 1 to 2 full weekend practices a month, Friday - 7 p.m. - 12 a.m. / Saturday - all day / Sunday - 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. Who is the Director? Jeremy Webb, who will be assisted by Patrick Jones, Bob Nash, and Others. For more information view the Staff Page. How much will it cost to participate in IPT? We estimate the membership dues to be ONLY $500. People that live over 75 miles from Lafayette will only be charged $400 to compensate for travel cost. this will include transportation for those who need it, and hotels in Dyton, Ohio. All other expenses such as insurance are included. Where does the money go? Most of it goes towards the Dayton trip, along with costumes, show design, show entry fees, transportation, and equipment purchases. Can I bring my cost down? How? If you get sponsors to sponsor the ensemble $500, your fee is $250. If you get sponsors to sponsor the ensemble $1000, you owe nothing. Will there be fundraising opportunities? Yes, we will host fundraisers to bring the membership fee down below $500. What equipment will we perform with? Right now we are not certain, we are still arranging things with different schools. We hope to purchase some new equipment. How many members will be selected at auditions? Snares - 7 Tenors - 4 Basses - 5 Cymbals - 4 The following are minimum numbers: Marimba - 3 Vibes - 3 Xylophone / Crotales - 1 Bells / Chimes - 1 Percussion - 2 Synthesizers - 2 Bass guitar - 1 Electric guitar - 1 I don't think I'm good enough, should I audition? YES!!!!! Let us be the judge of that, we will teach you how to do everything we do and how we do it. If you have the desire to be a member, attend rehearsals, pay your dues, and we will work with you. Does it cost to audition? When are fees due? There will be a $35 fee to audition. A deposit of $250 for those selected will be due by the 1st rehearsal date. Canmy parents help? YES!!!!! We encourage parent involvement on any level they would like to help (except teaching). This includes woodwork, sewing, helping with camps, or maybe your parents just rock and they want to come take pictures, help with registration for auditions.......
